3 Websites for Learning English

1. Dave’s ESL Café
http://www.eslcafe.com

I knew this site in 2007, when I attended an ESL course in the States. This is a very useful place for both teachers and students.
My teacher suggested me using it to look for idioms, all the idioms can be search by the first letter, from A to Z, and it provides the meaning and a sentence of using. In my opinion, from this little spot of looking up idioms, it provides visitors a simple way to get what they want with accuracy and variety options.

2. Cambridge Dictionaries Online
http://dictionary.cambridge.org/

It is a dictionary website provided from Cambridge, when you want to look something up, the only thing to do is type it and select what dictionary you it might be in, and you could get the answer.

3. ICRT
http://www.icrt.com.tw/#

Of course everyone knows ICRT, it’s a radio channel on FM, it introduces you the latest music in America and England, and if you are not a fan of radio or you don’t drive, you can also listen to it online, it speaks all English most of the time, English Learners could stay on the channel to focus on what the hosts are saying or appreciating the music or just let themselves to be in an English immersion condition, days after days, the ability of English listening could truly improved!

What is Mind Mapping?

Mind mapping is a strategy to help us express ideas. It makes paragraphs into picture, makes readers to understand easier. Making a mind map, to me, it’s like drawing a big tree.

The elements of given a mind map are according to the importance of the contents, we give the most important idea for the first column, and the less important one the next, etc…
The columns are classified into groups, branches, or areas. It is a new way to analyze articles or speeches instead of line by line or a paragraph of summary.

Reflection on what I’ve learn from the two blog sites that Chung-Kai made for learning communities

Web 2.0 for Language Teaching and Learning

He explains the idea of web 2.0 very clearly for those who are new to web 2.0, like me. Web 2.0 is really a landmark of a whole new world in Internet space.

He shares a lot of websites such as, youtube, wretch, slideshare, etc…, that we have recently learned in class. Those websites represents this new Internet era, they founded as some large space for people to share and commute their opinions. For example, Wretch, is now one of the largest websites in Taiwan, at the very beginning, students are the mainly members of it, now not only personal blogs open on wretch, even some private groups, or clubs, they founded their home page on wretch.

As for the language teaching purpose by using web 2.0 mentioned by Chung-Kai, the application of web 2.0 for learning will replace the set-up Language Learning Center in the future, I agree with this view a lot, now it is so convenient to do everything by the Internet, of course English learning or other language learning are included, there will be a day that no one has to go to school or cram school for learning, people could just pay and learn on the Internet at anytime and everywhere.

ESL/EFL Writing and Internet Technology

Facebook, as Chun-Kai mentions, is one of the most useful social tools, which help people to find each other and communicate on line. I use facebook a lot myself, my friends and I write to each other on facebook more often then sending emails, it is a very convenient way to contact my foreign friends without spending money. I write to them and P.S. all the time, they will correct my error usage of my English, and that is a good way of learning English and also connect with friends!!

Odiogo, which is a cool tool that could vocalize your blog. I think it is so convenient to lazy people, if they aren’t willing to read, they could listen! Or for those people who aren’t able to read, they could listen; or for those who are too busy to surf on the Internet, they could use ipod to listen to the blog while jogging or doing exercise, and all these people could get the information from the blog as well.

Introducing Myself

Hi,
My name is Tina Chen,

I come from Taipei City and I go to an university in Taichung City.
In Taichung, I rent an apartment near my school, I have a roommate, who is one of my best friends from high school.

I major in English, and I like English very much.
My school used to be a teacher's college, but I'm here not for being a teacher, I don't want to be a teacher, but some of my classmate do want to be a teacher in the future.

I'm studying Spanish for the second year, I want to master it because using Spanish might be a specialty when I go to work.

What is WEB 2.0?

WEB2.0,

For example,
web1.0

web2.0時代

So, 3.0
